Period Postive

#periodtalk #periodpositive

I always ponder how do I make my family and friends understand that periods is not a stigma. It is not a taboo. I really do not like the “untouchability” part that is being followed in my family. They say – don’t touch the household stuff, don't sleep on bed, no cooking. Many will argue that this is for the well-being of the female so that she can take rest in her periods.
My question here is :

  • If she can go to school, college or office and mingle with her friends and colleagues, why is she being asked to stay aloof at home.
  • If she can travel in a bus to go to the office, then why is she being asked not to enter the kitchen.
  • If she can work on office laptops, then why is she being asked not to touch the household stuff.
  • If she can avail a seat in the bus, she can sit in an office chair, why is she being asked to sleep on the floor.
  • If a girl does not menstruate, will you ever accept her as your daughter in law, I am sure many won’t.
We need to educate and enlighten ourselves to leave this mentality. I request all the beautiful ladies to start contemplating on this.
I know this will take time. But WE CAN and WE WILL😇

  1. It's a mental blockage among us only...till date Girls themselves don't go to temple or offer prayers at home also stating that they are in some other phase of life. This needs to be changed..

  2. Yup, it's not only about the long established tradition but has also to do with our own actions. We need to stand up against what we think is true. It's time to make choices, it's time to stop following traditions blindly and break the taboo. It's time we need to enter kitchen to pacify our own mood swings during times when society term it as "that time of the month". Our actions in present will determine the life of our future generation.
