One Rainy Evening : A love story

Apurva is a software engineer working at Electronic city Bangalore. Often, she felt that social media platforms are all fake. People try to portray their life to be perfect on them. Hence, she didn't have much interest in them. she had a Facebook account and most of the time it used to be inactive.

One rainy evening, she had finished up her office work early and was getting bored, so thought of going through FB posts. She heard the classic messenger sound – ting, she quickly opened the messenger to check the message. She had got a message from a guy named Kabir. There was a formal greeting message, so immediately she replied. After 5-10 mins of chatting with him, she realized that this was not the same Kabir whom she knows. She avoided him and turned off the internet. Post dinner, she could see another ping from him – ‘Had your dinner?’ She saw it and ignored it. A few minutes later, he pinged – I think you have slept off. Good night.

This went on for a few days, his daily messages asking about her well-being and her one-word replies.

A couple of weeks later, she was upset due to some office issues. She was feeling hopeless and homesick. As per his daily ritual, when he messaged her about dinner, she couldn't stop herself from answering.

K: Had your dinner?
A: Yes. Thanks for asking.
K: Thanks to you for finally replying.
A: You are most welcome
K: You must be busy enjoying the weekend. After all its Friday night.
A: Usually I don't have plans for weekends
K: Are you kidding, who doesn't enjoy weekends.
A: It's me.
K: Why?
A: Can we just talk for 2 mins.
K: Sure, why not.

She called him via the FB messenger.

He greeted her with a perfect loud and crisp voice. He inquired about her day, but she just said it was ok. she avoided telling him the truth as she didn't want him to get the negative vibes. He kept on talking and she listened to him patiently. That was very unusual on her part. As per family and friends, she is the most talkative person in the world. That day she wanted to listen to him. They mostly talked about movies and songs – which were his favorite pastime.

He even sang 2 lines from one of his favorite songs -

Haath thaam le piya
Karte hain vaada
Ab se tu aarzu
Tu hi hai iraada.... 
Tu nazm nazm sa mere
Honthon pe thehar ja
Main khwab khwab sa teri

Aankhon mein jaagun re...

She never knew that this conversation will leave a lasting impression on her and the words that he has sung for her would come true.

And after 2 years of dating, he held her hands FOREVER to make their bond eternal.
